398. Q:
Is it possible to gain some body fat and not kgs?If not that means that iam able to see if i gain fat if i weight myself often and so right?
A:
If your weight stays constant you're very unlikely to gain significant amount of body fat with any reasonable diet. Highly-conditioned atheletes who stop training may lose some muscle and gain some fat while their bodyweight doesn't change. But an average person or even an amateur athelete is very unlikely to gain significant body fat as long as he or she doesn't gain weight and doesn't eat complete junk all the time.
However if you are going through yo-yo diet cycles with your weight going up and then coming back down, you're quite likely to be gaining some fat with each cycle. This can happen because while losing weight on crash diets (and especially without exercise) you will lose a good amount of muscle along with fat. Then when you're gaining weight back (again without exercise), you'll gain less muscle and more fat than you just lost. In the end you have the same weight, but more fat and less muscle. This is especially true for crash diets, as I mentioned when people try to lose 10 or more pounds very quickly. But if your weight gains and losses are gradual, you're probably going to end up with roughly the same amount of weight and fat in the end.
