Ask Mike Your Fitness Question:
629. Q: Hey mike. Im 13 and i weigh 112 pounds and i am 168cm tall. am i healthy??

A: Those numbers are perfectly fine. It's perfectly normal to be very lean at your age, like you sound to be. In the next few years you should expect to start filling out your frame more as well as grow in height. If you're interested in making sure you gain some muscle in those years, you can start learning about nutrition and weight training by reading the articles in this section of my site. You can also start doing resistance training now using bodyweight exercises (pullups, pushups, squats, lunges) or light weights under adult supervision. You won't be able to put on a lot of muscle till a bit later, usually at age 15-16, but you can improve your strength and lay a solid foundation on which to build later. But coming back to your original question, it certainly sounds like you're perfectly healthy and are well poised for the upcoming growth spurt.
