2532. Q:
what is maltodextrin structure
A:
I will defer to other internet sources here and here for chemical structure. But as far as diet is concerned the main thing you need to know is that for your body maltodextrin has the same effect as sugar. Therefore many supposedly 'sugar-free' foods that use maltodextrin for sweetness are actually just as bad for you as their regular sugar equivalents.
2533. Q:
Hi mike, i'm 16 and around 1.80m and maybe 64kg, i have not been playing soccer for 3 months now due to the holidays and have only been going to the gym 3 times a week. i have a very weak visible 4 pec but i seem to have gained muscle during the holidays as i can see some lines forming somewhere near my waist. i don't know if its fats or muscles but when i just lightly just rub it, it feels solid.
A:
I can't tell you for sure what happened since I can't see you, but in general it's unlikely that you suddenly develop a full six-pack without some weight loss. So if your weight stayed the same or increased, then it's probably a bit of new fat. On the other hand if your weight dropped, then it may be that you are really seeing your six-pack.
2534. Q:
Hello, Mike! I am a 22 year old guy, 5ft 9, 155 ibs with 14% bodyfat. I want to gain muscles very slowly to about 200 ibs because i dont want stretch marks. I want to weigh about 200 ibs when i am 25 years old with muscles, is that possible. My question is what and how much to eat, how and how much to train to slowly gain muscle? Plus how much muscle can you gain in a year if you are doing it slowly? Can you gain more muscles if you are doing it fast. I really hope you can awnser all this questions as soon as possible, i really need to know, Thanks alot buddy.
A:
It should be possible for you to gain 45 pounds over the next 3 years with most of that new weight being muscle. It would be quite difficult to gain 45 pounds of pure muscle, but with a few bulking (weight gaining) cycles during which you aim to gain muscle interspersed with a few cutting (weight losing) cycles during which you lose fat you should be able to come close to your goal -- maybe something like 35 pounds of new muscle with 10 pounds of new fat. You will need to be quite disciplined in both your diet and your training -- if you just haphazardly eat and lift when you feel like it you are unlikely to reach your goal. You need a good diet and training program and you need to stick to them closely.
All the information you need to accomplish that is here on my site. Start by reading and really really understanding my Diet and Weight Training articles. Then you can fill out my Fitness Guide to get a starter program. I would also recommend that you start your fitness blog here after registering and logging in -- it's a great tool to keep yourself on track and motivated. And I'll make sure to check in from time to time with suggestions. Good luck!
2535. Q:
hey mike I only get 30-80 grams of protein. per day and i weigh 120 lb. I am 13 and i already chose my workout routine but i am worrying about my nutrition. my parents only give me food where there is not much protein in. so do i have to have 120 grams of protein daily or can i go with 30 -80 grams of protein? and i eat enough carbs and the other stuff and i drink 2.1 liter of water daily so i am just worrying about the protein. plz help me sahid
A:
If you get around 80 grams of protein daily you should be able to make progress. 30 grams, however, is probably too low, especially since your body needs protein just for your normal growth during teenage years. Try to eat more foods that are already part of your family's diet and that are rich in protein -- animal products (meats/fish/poultry/dairy) as well beans and lentils.
2536. Q:
how many calories do you burn from doing 220 jumping jacks
A:
Please see Q&A #2514.
2538. Q:
how many kgs of maga mass should i est to put on weight
A:
You can get better (and healthier) results from normal regular foods then from weight-gainers like megamass. You can read how to gain weight with regular foods in my Diet article and why I don't like commercial weight-gainers in my Protein article.
2539. Q:
hi i am a 13 year old girl medium build and 5.7 and a half tall and weigh 74kg would you say this is fat.or an unhealthy weight for me health becuse i get told im fat all the time by me cousions but i only think im chubby.
A:
You are a little bit overweight, but not by much. Mainly you are just quite tall for your age and your weight is correspondigly higher. It's likely that you will continue to grow and if you grow by as little as 2-3 more inches and keep your weight the same, your weight will then be perfectly healthy for your new height.
