Ask Mike Your Fitness Question:
1138. Q: mike is there any form of weight training that focus on the neck

A: Check out Q&A #829.
1139. Q: mike if i do around 8 different kinds of carrying weights example like those bench press and etc for 30 times is that considered a heavy body workout

A: Don't think I understand your description of your workout. Carrying heavy stuff around is a pretty good exercise in itself, though it has potential to screw up your lower back if you're not careful. It also would not hit a lot of your muscles (chest, shoulders, upper back, triceps depending on how you carry things) If you bench press or do other exercises for 30 reps in a row, then you're using weights that are too light. Most of your weight training should be with weights heavy enough that you can only lift them 12 times or less in a row before needing a break. That'll give you maximum fat burning and muscle building benefits. Since you are still young (if I remember correctly) you should not push yourself too much and risk injury, so you might pick weights that you could lift 12-15 times and then only lift them 9-12 times or so.
1140. Q: Hi mike im trying to lose fats i do cardio for 30 mins and do weight training for 30 mins also that way i think im burning fats but its my diet i have a very big appetite for food so usually ill eat more so could u tell me if im losing weight

A: Well, a scale is the only way to see if you're losing weight, so just get yourself one. But again, if you are young, under 16-18, then unless you are very overweight you are doing the wrong thing trying to lose weight. Instead eat healthy, be physically active, and let you natural growth take care of whatever extra fat you may have.
1141. Q: Hi mike im the guy from Q 1129 im the guy whom you asked not to lose weight but i can't seem to stop thinking about it as my appetite is big is that the reason because im tall or something ?

A: It's not because you're tall, but because you are lean (meaning most of your weight is in muscle rather than fat), young, and physically active. As I said before, big appetite is a very good thing. Just eat good healthy stuff like veggies, fruits, whole grains, lean meats, etc. and not junk like pizza and burgers. And don't try to lose weight.
1142. Q: How can I reduce fat on the ass?

A: Check out Q&A #630.
1144. Q: Mike, im the guy from 1003, i just weighed myself this morning and im 209 or so now. is this good progress? i think some of it might be fat because ive been resting my arm(doctors advice, ive posted q's on here about it too) which means i havent been able to do like anything for chest and shoulders and about how unhealthy i ate over thanksgiving.

A: Now you're gaining weight a little too fast, a bit more than 1 pounder per week. If you are taking time off gym right now to let your shoulder heal (good!), scale down your diet so your weight just stays constant (maybe take out 1 meal/day) till you are back in the gym. If you are still working out except for shoulders and chest, then still scale down the diet slightly to slow down the weight gain just a bit. Good job sticking with it and tracking your weight closely!
