650. Q:
Mike, im the guy from 591, 636, etc about the new diet and all. Is eating 4-5 oz steak servings for my 2 cooked meals enough? along with greenbeans, and all the other stuff?
A:
Yes, that should be fine.
651. Q:
Mike, yesterday was my shoulder day. i did military presses, shrugs, and upright rows, but i didnt get a burn at all today. nor have i been able to for the last month. i used to do behind the neck lat machine, shrugs, and machine military presses and i always got a burn. it shouldnt be my form, because i can feel the muscles burning immediately after the set.
A:
It's fine to not get DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) the following day. DOMS is not an indication of progress and lack of it is not an indication of lack of progress. Different people get it differently, most commonly it happens after the first couple of workouts after a long break. But it really doesn't matter. Instead you should focus on lifting heavy, with good form, and to failure and it sounds like you did all that. So don't worry about the fact that your muscles aren't cramping the following day.
652. Q:
what are some ways to stop late night hunger
A:
If you follow a well-planned diet, your meals should span the whole day, from the moment you wake up to right before you go to bed. A good pre-bed meal will have a source of protein like chicken or fish, a source of healthy fats like olive oil, and a lot of non-starchy veggies (salad, broccoli, green beans, etc.). So in this case you'd never go hungry late at night because you will have a planned meal for that time.
If you wake up at 3am feeling hungry, I can't help you too much with that. If you work out with heavy weights, insomnia really shouldn't be a problem. First thing to try is to go back to sleep. If you simple MUST eat something in the middle of the night, you could potentially make a protein shake (some people actually wake up on purpose in the middle of the night to chug a shake, though I certainly don't think it's necessary) or eat a piece of fruit. Just have a plan of some small healthy snack that will keep you from reaching for junk food.
653. Q:
What do You think about the One Day Diet?
A:
There's probably a dozen different pills and programs that go by that name that are all, basically, junk. They're designed to sell by appealing to your lazy side. It's completely impossible to lose any significant amount of fat in one day and losing fat is the only thing that matters. It IS possible to lose a lot of WEIGHT in one day, almost all of which will be muscle and water and all of which will come back in a hurry and with extra fat.
Don't look for quick fixes and certainly don't fall for silly marketing names like 'One Day Diet'. Instead educate yourself about true, slow, sustained, long-term fat loss through healthy dieting and exercise including weight training. Then just gather up some resolve and start on that path. A few months later you'll be thanking yourself while all the quick-fix people will be wondering where the extra fat came from.
654. Q:
ok, Im male im 16 years old im im 5'11 or 6'0 i checked about a 4 or 5 months ago but i may have grown. Anayway i weigh 245 pounds and i want to lose 45 pounds and turn all my extra fat in to muscle so i have that flat stomach and flat chest that all the guys have now. What should i do to get rid of the fat and make it all muscle?
A:
Read this carefully, including the other articles it references, and follow its instructions to get the complete customized diet + exercise program from Mike's Fitness Guide. The keys are a well-planned diet that you follow as closely as possible (the guide will suggest the diet and it'll be up to you to change and tweak it to make it fit your tastes and lifestyle), heavy whole-body weight training, discipline, and patience. You will want to lose only around 1 pound per week and definitely no more than 2 pounds per week. Staying at that slow weight loss pace will allow you to lose fat for a long long time while at the same time gaining muscle. If you try to lose weight quickly, you'll just lose a bunch of muscle and far less fat than you'd want before your weight loss stops again and you'll be very likely to gain all that fat back. So be disciplined and be patient. At just 1 pound per week, in 1 year you can remake yourself into a terrific shape.
