So far so good with everything :) I did HIIT (sp?) for the first time yesterday with changing every 30 seconds. I can feel it today!! I did in the past occassional interval cardio where I would do moderate for 2min and then sprint for 1 min but with every thirty seconds I guess it makes a difference, LOL.
And anyway, I have yet another question. I consider toning when you can see some muscle definition (in the arms especially and if in the legs too then yay!)..will the program I'm on for toning vs strength (see previous post from Mike) create this "look"? If not, I guess I need a new program, LOL. Thanks!
And this is off on a tangent but I wish there were hours in a day sometimes. Don't suppose anyone could help with that ;)

I think the muscle definition will come more from losing fat than from the kind of weightlifting program you do; therefore, your diet is probably more important in this regard.

muscle definition will come from both losing fat and building muscle,so if u are not overw eight i think u need to bulk for a while, and then cut.
educate urself about bulkin up and cutting(i mean like the right way of dieting to gain and lose weight).
as for ur workout routine,it should be something like the one i mentioned last time...and of course intense.i mean u should train wit such weights that u can only lift 6-12 reps until u need to rest for like a min or so.
mike has sum useful articles, dont hesitate to read 'em all.

The previous comment is basically accurate, but cutting and bulking are primarily a function of your diet: eating less on a cut and more on a bulk. Therefore, it is your diet that is more important than the actual type of weighttraining you do (just so long as you do some). Since you are very new to weighttraining, you might be able to lose fat and gain muscle, to some degree, simultaneously; although to the best of my recollection, it seems that you are not that overweight so it might be difficult. For now, since you are new, I would continue on your cut while lifting weights and worry about bulking when you plateau. Presently, it is probably too early to truely determine that you have plateaued.

Looks like Bgirl and BigBubba gave you the answers you were looking for. 'Toning' is just another word for fat loss -- the less fat you have the more muscle definition will show. As long as your diet allows you to either lose weight or at least keep it constant, you will see some 'toning' effect from the weight training.
