5-6 pounds in 8 weeks is about right -- you will most likely immediately gain a couple of pounds of water weight as you increase calories and after that adding 3-4 pounds of mostly muscle in 8 weeks should be a good goal. And I agree with your friend about cardio -- it is mostly counterproductive on a bulk. There have been studies that show that traditional constant-pace cardio interferes with muscle hypertrophy (muscle growth). It doesn't mean you won't gain any muscle with cardio, but you'll gain less than if you didn't do cardio. Plus, if you are still dancing that will provide cardio in itseld. And yes, if you feel you absolutely must do additional cardio, then HIIT is the best choice. |
