2 Days A Week Or 5 Days A Week Workouts
Q: Hi Mike, Excellent website, many thanks. What are the pros and cons of doing either a 2 day a week program or a 5 day a week ? I will be working out at home, with a bench , ez curl bar , barbell and dumbells. Not how many days a week to work out. Thanks Mike, Ben
A: Most programs will have you exercise between 2 and 5 times per week. It's not a matter of one approach being better than the other -- they are all equally good and mixing up and changing program every couple of months will give you better results in the long run than doing the same program all year long. You can find a number of different programs in my Weight Training article, for example. Spend a couple of months doing a high-volume 5-days-a-week program, then a couple of months doing lighter 2- or 3-a-week, then go back to higher volume, etc. There is no one perfect program -- variety and mixing up programs, exercises, the number of sets, number of reps, going to failure and not to failure, will give you the best results in the long run.
