Beginner Trying To Lose Weight And Gain Muscle At The Same Time
Q: In response to your answer to question 54 I dont wanna gain weight. I wanna gain muscle and lose weight or at least stay the same weight.
A: The easiest way to gain muscle is to gain weight while weightlifting. If you don't want to gain weight, then if you are a beginner you should still be able to lose 3-4 pounds of fat per month while gaining 1-2 pounds of muscle. However once you reach 12-15% body fat (depending on your genetics, age, health, diet), your body will likely hit the point when it will no longer lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. At that time you'll probably want to make a decision whether you want to focus on gaining muscle or on losing fat since you won't make much progress trying to do both simultaneously. But until then, eat good foods and exercise and you should enjoy some quality muscle gain while burning fat.
