Fat Burning Diet Plan

Q: who could provide me with a fat-burning diet plan that would be most affective in my quest to lose fat and gain muscle? Im trying to eat sensibly, but dont know if im eating enough/too much of certain foods. Could you give me a template of the kind of thing you would eat in a day.

A: Certainly! Unfortunately you didn't tell me enough about yourself (sex, age, weight, body composition), but I can still give you a base diet plan to start with that you can adjust to make it more personalized to your needs. Look here. This plan is included in my Nutrition article.

You should read the whole article to learn how to diet best and also use http://www.mikesfitness.com/content/fitnessguide to see how many calories you should be eating. For example, If you are a man over 30 who weighs around 200 pounds and wants to lose fat, I suggest that you eat around 2600 calories a day, split into 6 meals. You can take that info and combine it with the sample plan above (which has around 1900-2000 calories) to see that you'd need to slightly increase meal sizes given in the sample plan and also add one more average-sized meal per day to the five meals that are in the sample plan now. That'll bump the plan's calories up to around 2600. Now use that calorie calculator to enter your personal data and see the calories it suggests and adjust the sample plan for yourself!

A couple of notes... do NOT jump into the new diet plan overnight. Slowly change from your current diet to the new one over 1-2 weeks instead. Take even longer time if you are eating a lot less food now than the new plan suggests (which is possible). If you are overweight by more than 30 pounds, then the calories calculator will suggest too many calories for you -- in this case instead of your actual weight, enter your desired weight + 30 pounds into the calculator to see how many calories you should be eating. And as always, come back here and ask me any questions. Good luck!
