Is Bulking Bad For A 14 Year Old
Q: Q372: I dont think bulking up is good for a 14 year old. Chances are by the time he is 30 he will be overweight anyways..if he bulks up now he will even be a more overweight 30 year old.
A: I disagree. If a boy starts learning about healthy nutrition and exercise early, he's very likely to NOT be overweight at 30 and have much better health than average throughout his life. It's the people who don't exercise and eat all sorts of junk who end up overweight and with health problems.
As for the bulk, it has to be done right, of course. The purpose of a bulk is to not just gain weight, but to gain muscle while MINIMIZING fat gains. If done right, especially while young it's very possible to put on maybe 3 times more muscle than fat. The keys are a good diet, a good exercise regimen, discipline to follow both, and patience (you want to gain weight as slowly as possible, not 2 pounds per week). If he is able to bulk the right way, he will be even LESS prone to being overweight later on because his extra muscle mass will allow him to burn fat even faster.
As a growing boy he already needs to eat well and if he's exercising, then he needs to eat even more. At 115 pounds he has not hit his main growth spurt yet and is certainly in no danger of being overweight.
