5 Foot 7 Inches, 74 Kg

Q: hi i am a 13 year old girl medium build and 5 foot 7 and a half tall and weigh 74kg would you say this is fat.or an unhealthy weight for me health becuse i get told im fat all the time by me cousions but i only think im chubby.

A: You are a little bit overweight, but not by much. Mainly you are just quite tall for your age and your weight is correspondigly higher. It's likely that you will continue to grow and if you grow by as little as 2-3 more inches and keep your weight the same, your weight will then be perfectly healthy for your new height.

How Much Mega Mass To Put On Weight

Visible 4 Pack

Q: Hi mike, i'm 16 and around 1.80m and maybe 64kg, i have not been playing soccer for 3 months now due to the holidays and have only been going to the gym 3 times a week. i have a very weak visible 4 pack but i seem to have gained muscle during the holidays as i can see some lines forming somewhere near my waist. i don't know if its fats or muscles but when i just lightly just rub it, it feels solid.

Maltodextrin Structure

Q: what is maltodextrin structure

A: I will defer to other sources such as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maltodextrin for chemical structure. But as far as diet is concerned the main thing you need to know is that for your body maltodextrin has the same effect as sugar. Therefore many supposedly 'sugar-free' foods that use maltodextrin for sweetness are actually just as bad for you as their regular sugar equivalents.

Testosterone Supplement

Q: Hi, Mike I'm 52 years old and work out with weights 3 to 4 times a week and cardio the other days, my quistion is, is there a testostrone supplement you recommend for someone my age?

A: Sorry, I am not qualified to recommend that -- you will want to talk to your doctor about it.

Training For Rugby

Q: ok I am pretty young for the most past (freshman in college) and my school doesnt have a rugby team so I am trying to get into shape for the town club. I have heard a lot of stuff that I should do but I am not really sure how I should be training for rugby. I am also unaware of how I should be eating, ( I would like to slim down, but I am more concerned about gaining muscle). I eat pretty well for the most part however some pointers would be greatly appreciated=]

How Soon To Notice Weight Loss With Diet And Exercise

Q: How soon should I start noticing weight loss with a good diet and exercise

A: In nearly all cases I would recommend losing weight quite slowly -- no faster than two pounds per week (and preferably even slower). Such slow steady weight loss is much more likely to succeed in the long run because it preserves metabolism and muscle mass. Crash diets that lead to quick initial weight loss are almost never sustainable -- the weight tends to return sooner or later in the form of new fat.

Lifting Heavy Weights Compared To Kickboxing

Q: How effective compared to lifting heavy weights is exercise like kickboxing when you are kicking and punching a heavy bag. Surely it is more demanding at least in the short term to be moving fast at the same time as working your muscles with resistance?

Add Cardio To My Routine

Q: I'm a early 20's male looking to add some cardio to my routine, and I was wondering what the best way to add it to weight training would be. A friend of my says just repeating some of my current lifting routines on my off days just with around 25% of my max and using increased reps is the best way to go. What's your opinion?

How Many Carbs Do I Need A Day

Q: How many carbs do I need a day if I play baseball?

A: There's no way I can tell you that without knowing more about you (age, height, weight, activity level) but if you want to get a rough idea, you can fill out my Fitness Guide specifying either 'Maintain' or 'Gain Muscle' as your goal. Note that for an athlete protein intake is also very important to improve muscle recovery and performance. Aim to get at least 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight daily.

Try To Eat Smaller Meals And More Often

Q: ok here i am postin' back...(Q num 2518) my diet is all about eating healthy i dont eat any junk food, stuff like ice cream, sweets or rice cakes! my biggest meal is my launch from which i take around 600 to 700 calories, then i try to eat smaller meals and more often during the day,but sometimes due to frustration and anger i over eat on a day and the other day i eat less! i eat alot of friuts and veggies, the only things that might be not so good on my diet are cheese and honey.

Tracking Fat Gains And Losses

Q: Mike, What is the best method for tracking fat gains and losses, along with muscle gains and losses if you are female? We all know the scale doesn't detect this, and if you are a female who tends to retain 3-4 pounds water on and off, water under the skin can throw one's caliper measurements off, and even artificailly elevate the scale weight. So how can I tell if I'm gaining fat weight or muscle weight, in general? ANd how do I tell what my muscle and fat gains/losses are while I'm also currently retaining water weight?

How Many Grams Of Protein Should I Take

Q: how many grams of protein should I take to weigh 160lbs?

A: If you are physically active (though sports, weight training, or perhaps a physically demanding job), then you'll benefit from as much as 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight daily. How Weight Will You Lose If You Do 100 Jumping Jacks

Q: how much weight will you lose in a week if you do 100 jumping jacks every night

Spend Most Of The Day Moving

Q: I have conducted a little experiment - I tried to see if I could spend most of my day moving even when sedentary - Like a lot of people I spend quite a bit of time in front of the computer or the television. All I did was sit up with a straight back - i.e. not resting my back on the chair I was sitting in - and lightly tapping my ankles (at a moderate speed) like I was listening to some music. I noticed two things - I started to lose fat each week and I was more tired at the day's end.

How Bad Are Muffins, Bagels, Smoothies

Q: I'm a 19-year-old college guy, 5'8'' and weigh around 155 lbs. I once had been a nutrition-freak, who regularly checks the nutrtion facts label for every single food item I eat. However, I've started to eat and drink carelessly in college. Here's my question: How bad is it to eat 'junk food' such as muffins, bagles with cream cheese, and smoothies? From what I know, they contain lots of carbohydrates(sugar and etc.). Do you think it's OK to eat one muffin or one whole bagle with a smootie for a meal?

Spread Out Cardio Throughout The Day

Abs Area Curves Outward

Q: I'm active lifting heavy weights several times a week and doing intense cardio on the other days along with a healthily diet and a very healthy weight for my height - 6 foot 2 inches and about 12 stone 10 pounds. I know I have strong abs, it's just the usual I have a layer of fat. What I have noticed is that when I lie down or when I'm doing pull-ups my stomach goes right in. I'm talking a couple of inches in from level of my ribs and chest , imagine a long ruler placed on your ribs and chest down to navel area.

Layer Of Skin Around Bottom Abs

Q: Im 15 years old. I know this is more than probly an often asked question, but I am doind a lot of exercise (weight training, sit ups, push ups etc. I eat just about enough to fuel my exercise. (alot of fruit, veg, tuna, whey protien, water and carbs such as pasta, musli and whole grain cerials. I can not eat any less calories but For some reason I can not get rid of the big layer of skin around my very bottom abs, I know it is not fat because when I pinch it it is very thin and stretchy.
