Trying To Build Muscle And Strength But No Gym

Q: Hi I am trying to build serious muscle and strength , but: 1) have no gym nearby (nearest 80km) 2)have purchased dumbbells so that is all I have to work with at present please HELP!

A: You can accomplish quite a bit using your own bodyweight and some dumbbells for resistance. First, see if you can find a place to do pullups somewhere. It could be pullup bar installed in a doorway or something as simple as a sturdy horizontal branch on a tree. Pullups are probably the single best upper body exercise and they only require your bodyweight and a bar.

Training For 5K Race

Q: Mike - having some issues posting in my blog, so I'll post my question for you here. Over the past year, I've made some pretty big strides in my fitness. I've now been talked into running in some 5k races later this year. I don't plan on winning anything, but I'm hoping to have some respectable times. Any advice on training for these? Programs to increase speed/endurance? I'm currently around 23:30-24:00 minutes. Looking to trim another few minutes at least by the first race in June!

Have Big Thighs, Want To Look Skinny And Toned

Q: I am 21 years old, 5'3, & 134 lbs... I have always been active. I played sports in high school. And I am currently working out again, regularly. I have never seemed to have that perfect body though! I'm not big. I just have really big thighs, but they are mostly muscle except for my inner thighs have fat(cellulite) that I have never been able to get rid of. And I have some stubburn belly fat, too. I just really want that perfect toned body!! Not some much worried about my weight, I just want to look skinny and toned! What should I do? And I don't eat tuna and salmon.
