Lost 85 Pounds With Weight Watchers

Q: i go to weight watchers and have lost 85 pounds. i exercise 5 times a week, 3 x 10 miles on a bike outside and 2 whole body weight workouts at the gym. If I go to my weigh in at ww after a weight training session will it show as a gain on the scale?

A: Congratulations on your weight loss and great job with the diet and workouts!! You will get most consistent and accurate weight measures if you weigh yourself first thing in the morning after using the bathroom and before eating or drinking anything. The later in the day you wait to weigh yourself the larger the error can get. It's not at all unusual for your bodyweight to fluctuate by 5 pounds or more during the day because of all the water and food you consume. And it can occasionally work the other way too -- if you sweat a lot during the day and don't rehydrate an evening weigh-in might show lower bodyweight than it actually is. So while the workout itself has nearly no effect your true bodyweight, depending on how much you sweat and drink during the workout and how much you ate and drank the that day before the workout and your restroom habits your weigh-in probably won't be very accurate. My recommendation is to try to find time in the morning to weigh yourself, as I described above.
