No Soreness After Shoulder Workout

Q: Mike, yesterday was my shoulder day. i did military presses, shrugs, and upright rows, but i didnt get a burn at all today. nor have i been able to for the last month. i used to do behind the neck lat machine, shrugs, and machine military presses and i always got a burn. it shouldnt be my form, because i can feel the muscles burning immediately after the set.

A: It's fine to not get DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) the following day. DOMS is not an indication of progress and lack of it is not an indication of lack of progress. Different people get it differently, most commonly it happens after the first couple of workouts after a long break. But it really doesn't matter. Instead you should focus on lifting heavy, with good form, and to failure and it sounds like you did all that. So don't worry about the fact that your muscles aren't cramping the following day.
