Work Each Muscle Twice A Week

Q: The other day I read something on a bodybuilder's blog, that it is actually better to work each muscle twice a week. As opposed to really hitting them hard once a week. FRom what was written they were saying you should stop just short of failure so that you can work the same muscle three days later. Is there any truth to this?

A: Yes, that is definitely a legitimate and very effective training method. Strength-specific training, especially, is based around multiple-times-per-week training without reaching failure and it is something that anyone who usually trains to failure can benefit from as a change-up.

Remember that for most people there is no one program which will always give best results. You should try multiple training approaches and cycle through different programs throughout the year and the approach described in that blog should definitely be one of the things you try. I have a similar program posted here -- it turns around 3x/week training with very high, high, and medium intensity levels.
