Working Out For 2 Weeks, Have Yet To Lose Two Pounds

Q: I am 5 foot 5 weighing 147, I usually work out once or twice a week and diet during the week and weekends just eat whatever. I have been working out for 2 weeks now and have yet to lose two pounds, and it is frustrating because I diet well, 5 balanced healthy meals chicken breast, fish, veggies, etc. Can you help me?

A: Congratulations on starting! That's the hardest part. Now, two weeks isn't nearly long enough to judge success of any program and in fact, slow steady weight loss of one pound per week or slowed is actually the best kind. It might take a few weeks for your body to get the metabolism up and start the fat loss, so don't get discouraged so quickly.

Having said that, working out just once or twice a week and eating 'whatever' on the weekends may not be a good enough program. Try to get at least 3 workouts each week, both resistance training and cardio. Also, eating sloppy 2 days out of 7 each week is too much. It's OK to have a 'cheat meal' occasionally and maybe have one full free day, but not the whole weekend. Finally, learn as much as you can -- read my Fat Loss, Nutrition, and Weight Training articles. And if you can post back here with your very detailed training routine and diet I may be able to suggest more specific improvements. Keep it going and good luck!
